The Plant Breeder, a distinguished journal hosted by Sayans Publishers, is devoted to advancing the science and practice of plant breeding. Our mission is to foster the dissemination of innovative research, techniques, and methodologies in the field of plant breeding. We aim to serve as a pivotal platform for sharing knowledge and developments that drive agricultural progress and sustainability. The journal is committed to bridging the gap between academic research and practical applications in plant breeding, contributing to food security, environmental sustainability, and the advancement of agricultural sciences.

Scope

  1. Genetic Improvement of Crops: Articles focusing on the genetic improvement of crop species, including traditional and modern techniques for enhancing desirable traits such as yield, quality, and resistance to pests and diseases.

  2. Molecular Breeding and Biotechnology: Research on the application of molecular biology and biotechnology in plant breeding, including genetic engineering, CRISPR/Cas9, genome editing, and marker-assisted selection.

  3. Crop Physiology and Metabolism: Studies on the physiological processes and metabolic pathways in crops that influence growth, development, and adaptation to environmental stresses.

  4. Conservation and Use of Genetic Resources: Papers on the conservation of plant genetic resources, including germplasm collection, storage, and utilization in breeding programs.

  5. Breeding for Specific Traits: Research focused on breeding plants for specific traits such as drought tolerance, nutrient use efficiency, flavor, nutritional value, and post-harvest quality.

  6. Cross-breeding and Hybridization Techniques: Articles on traditional and innovative cross-breeding and hybridization techniques, including the development of hybrids, polyploidy breeding, and the use of genetic markers in cross-breeding.

  7. Sustainable Breeding Practices: Exploration of sustainable and eco-friendly plant breeding practices, including organic breeding, low-input breeding strategies, and approaches that contribute to biodiversity and environmental conservation.

  8. Socioeconomic Aspects of Plant Breeding: Analysis of the socioeconomic implications of plant breeding, including the impact on farmers, communities, and global food systems, as well as ethical considerations and policy implications.

The Plant Breeder invites contributions from plant breeders, geneticists, agronomists, biotechnologists, and researchers in allied fields. We welcome original research papers, reviews, case studies, and perspectives that offer significant contributions to the field of plant breeding. The journal aims to be an authoritative source of information, fostering innovation and knowledge exchange to meet the challenges of global food security and agricultural sustainability.
